Eastside Early Learning Kindergarten Program

Excellence in Learning

Your child's early years are the time when the foundations are laid for their physical, educational, emotional and socialising development - the key to reaching their full potential and successfully taking on the challenges of the world that awaits them. High quality group-based early learning programs increase children's opportunities in life, improving their physical, mental, emotional, social and academic outcomes at the start of school.  Early education programs support the development of early literacy and numeracy and facilitate the learning of routines that are a prerequisite for successful school participation and achievement.

Your Child's early learning is our priority. We are focused on preparing children for school & life,  providing excellence in learning, early childhood education, development and care.We provide a safe, stimulating and welcoming learning environment for your child to grow and develop. We utilise Interactive technologies such as Electroboards and touch screen computers to engage with our children in ways that are truly intuitive and collaborative. Information can be displayed, captured, manipulated, and shared quickly and easily.  We access world leading education curriculum resources and innovative programs to enhance the educational outcomes of our children. We use this innovative technology to supports our children's learning, offering them an engaging and fun learning experience.

Our Kindergarten Children engage in sensory play experiences through our water play, sand pit and our mud pit. Research shows that sensory play builds nerve connection in the brain's pathways, which lead to the child's ability to complete more complex learning tasks. It encourages 'scientific thinking' and problem solving. Sensory play enhances memory, supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills as well as social interactions.

Our routines and transitions are a major part of the kindergarten day. These activities help children to manage change and move smoothly between experiences, in readiness for School life.

Natural Learning Environment

We have designed our Kindergarten Outdoor Playscape specifically to meet the needs of Kindergarten children. It is packed with natural, educational, fun and challenging play elements that stimulates the senses and promote an outstanding physical learning environment for our children. Our Outdoor Learning Playscapes provide children with the opportunity to spend time in nature, which is a crucial component of early childhood health and development. Inspiring curiosity, creativity and a sense of freedom. Our playscapes facilitate opportunities for motor development and sensory experiences.

Our Outdoor Learning Playscapes encourage all types of free play and help children understand their environment. Outdoor play is an important part of children's physical, mental, social and emotional development. Playing outside in the fresh air is healthy, fun and adventurous, particularly when there are playmates. We provide exceptionally well-designed playgrounds which stimulate each child's imagination and encourages them to explore new dimensions to play. We provide our children with a range of experiences and opportunities including:

Ensuring a smooth transition for our Children from Kindergarten to Primary School

Our aim is to prepare and positively transition our Children from Kindergarten to Primary School through education and experience. Eastside Early Learning is conveniently located next door to Gumdale State Primary School. We work very closely with Gumdale State School and have regularly planned visits to the School. These visits ensure that our Kindergarten Children are familiar with “Prep”, the School grounds and they have opportunities to engage in “Prep” experiences such as Library visits, Physical Education, Music and Technology Lessons.  Our Kindergarten Children also have access to the Gumdale State School Prep Teachers who visit our Kindergarten Children in their environment at Eastside Early Learning. The Gumdale State School Kindergarten Transitions Teacher and Prep Teachers regularly visit our Kindergarten children at Eastside Early Learning. They provide lessons in Literacy and Numeracy to our Kindy children, helping them to prepare for their successful transition to school.

In addition we host a "Gumdale State School Information Night" at Eastside Early Learning, for our families who are interested in enrolling their child at the Gumdale State School. This information evening provides our parents with the opportunity to meet the Gumdale State School Leadership Team and to gain valuable information about the School and what it has to offer to our Children. Our Transition Program with the Gumdale State School ensures that our Kindergarten Children are happy, comfortable and positive about transitioning from Kindergarten to School.

In 2019 we are further developing these relationships in the wider community to include all schools that fall within our local catchment to ensure that all children here at Eastside have opportunities to engage with their school of choice to make the transition to big school a comfortable and exciting journey for all.

In our Kindergarten Program, children have access to Early Literacy Programs such as Sound Waves and Reading Eggs.  These programs are also used in the early primary school education.

Our routines and transitions are a major part of the kindergarten day. These activities help children to manage change and move smoothly between experiences, in readiness for School life.

In accordance with our Queensland Government Approved Kindergarten Program, we promote continuity of learning for children. We reflect and share information with parents about their children's progress. We also prepare the Transition Statement, which provides a summary of each child's learning with contributions from the kindergarten program teacher, parents and child, created towards the end of the year. It is a useful document parents are encouraged to share with their child's Prep Teacher to support a smooth transition to Prep.

We have received very positive feedback from our local schools on our children being very well prepared for their start of school journey.

The Early Years Learning Framework's vision is for all children to experience play-based learning that is engaging and builds success for life. It is a guide for early childhood educators who work with children from birth to five years. They use the framework in partnership with families - children's first and most influential educators - to develop learning programs responsive to children's ideas, interests, strengths and abilities, and recognise that children learn through their play.

Through the Early Years Learning Framework there are five learning outcomes which educators and teachers will assist your child to develop:

  • A strong sense of their identity
  • Connection with and contribution to their world
  • A strong sense of wellbeing
  • Confidence and involvement in their learning
  • Effective communication skills.
