Eastside Early Learning Pre-Kindy Program
Your child's early years are the time when the foundations are laid for their physical, educational, cognitative, emotional and socialising development - the key to reaching their full potential and successfully taking on the challenges of the world that awaits them. High quality group-based early learning programs increase children's opportunities in life, improving their physical, mental, cognative, emotional, social and academic outcomes at the start of school. Early education programs support the development of early literacy and numeracy and facilitate the learning of routines that are a prerequisite for successful school participation and achievement.
Your Child's early learning and well being is our priority. We are focused on preparing children for school & life, providing excellence in learning, early childhood education, development and care. We provide a safe, stimulating and welcoming learning environment for your child to grow and develop. We aim to expand their skills and knowledge and provide for their interests.
Our devoted and talented team of Educators are all tertiary qualified and have almost 300 years of collective experience between them in early childhood education, development and care.
We believe that participating in our Pre-Kindy Program encourages children to develop strategies and skills, including:
In our Pre-Kindy Program, we prepare and positively transition our Children from Pre-Kindy to Kindergarten through education and experience.
We utilise Interactive technologies such as Electroboards and touch screen computers to engage with our children in ways that are truly intuitive and collaborative. Information can be displayed, captured, manipulated, and shared quickly and easily. We access world leading education curriculum resources and innovative programs to enhance the educational outcomes of our children. We use this innovative technology to supports our children's learning, offering them an engaging and fun learning experience.
Our Pre-Kindy Children engage in sensory play experiences through our water play, sand pit and our mud pit. Research shows that sensory play builds nerve connection in the brain's pathways, which lead to the child's ability to complete more complex learning tasks. It encourages 'scientific thinking' and problem solving. Sensory play enhances memory, supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills as well as social interactions.
Our routines and transitions are a major part of the Pre-Kindy day. These activities help children to manage change and move smoothly between experiences, in readiness for Kindergarten and School life.
Our Pre-Kindy and Kindergarten Teachers work very closely together. Our Pre-Kindy Children regularly visit the Kindergarten Room and enjoy activities lead by our Kindergarten Teachers.
We ensure our Pre-Kindy Children are "Kindergarten Ready" and that they are happy , comfortable and positive about transitioning from Pre-Kindy to Kindergarten.
We have designed our Pre-Kindy Outdoor Playscape specifically to meet the needs of Pre-Kindy children. It is packed with natural, educational, fun and challenging play elements that stimulates the senses and promote an outstanding physical learning environment for our children. Our Outdoor Learning Playscapes provide children with the opportunity to spend time in nature, which is a crucial component of early childhood health and development. Inspiring curiosity, creativity and a sense of freedom. Our playscapes facilitate opportunities for motor development and sensory experiences.
Our Outdoor Learning Playscapes encourage all types of free play and help children understand their environment. Outdoor play is an important part of children's physical, mental, social and emotional development. Playing outside in the fresh air is healthy, fun and adventurous, particularly when there are playmates. We provide exceptionally well-designed playgrounds which stimulate each child's imagination and encourages them to explore new dimensions to play. We provide our children with a range of experiences and opportunities including:
We foster collaborative partnerships with our families and communities. We respect and value the individual backgrounds and unique culture and customs of our families. Their contribution is valued and respected. These relationships provide opportunities for our Teachers to celebrate the richness and diversity of cultures and heritages that our children and families bring to our learning environment. We also incorporate a number of special presentations for our Pre-Kindy Children on a variety of subjects and interests throughout the year. This may include visits from members of community such as Police, Ambulance, Fire Brigade and local Health Care Professionals.
Community involvement is beneficial in all areas of life.
Children grow emotionally, intellectually and physically through both their relationships and through their community. In early childhood they may find this community at home, at childcare at school and though activities such as sport.
For children, community involvement and engagement produces long-term benefits in their lives. It gives them a sense of belonging and is crucial to the building of their identity.
Parents and family members play a vital role in the life of children and so too does the entire community as a whole.
Community involvement plays an important role in the growth and development of our young people. From Community involvement, positive relationships are built and the self-esteem and happiness of a child is given a foundation to flourish and succeed. It empowers children and it sends a powerful message to them. It’s one that says you are important. You are loved. You belong . It a message that, with it, holds the strength to empower every child in the world.
For children, a sense of community brings connection both to their surroundings and the individuals in those surroundings, further connecting them to their own unique place in the world.
As children develop, they begin to understand the wider society as a whole – what actions work and do not work, what values, sensitivities and aspirations we share. The creation of a local community in early childhood becomes the foundation of a child’s life. It helps them to learn about themselves, the world they life in, tackle challenges, build knowledge and thrive.
Healthy relationships and social support systems from the community are vital to lifelong wellness, and these interactions begin in childhood.
We encourage our parents, carers and grandparents to engage and participate as part of our community. This may include reading to children or sharing information with children about their profession or special interest. In the past, parents have shared their knowledge with our children in areas such as medical profession, veterinary science, aviation, indigenous culture, music, painting, drama and gardening.
As Eastside Early Learning, we are focused on building positive relationships in our local community. Over the course of the year, we arrange visits from:
We also support local business in our community. For example Rod’s Meatery, located in the shopping centre across the road from our childcare centre, provide the meat for the delicious meals our chef prepares each day.
At Eastside Early Learning we are passionate about helping children become ready for the wider world. Through our play-based programs, we are committed to providing individual and group experiences designed to enhance, extend and challenge your child's thinking and learning.
Our holistic and integrated approach ensures our early learning services are specifically tailored to your child's and your family's needs.
The Early Years Learning Framework's vision is for all children to experience play-based learning that is engaging and builds success for life. It is a guide for early childhood educators who work with children from birth to five years. They use the framework in partnership with families - children's first and most influential educators - to develop learning programs responsive to children's ideas, interests, strengths and abilities, and recognise that children learn through their play.
Through the Early Years Learning Framework there are five learning outcomes which educators and teachers will assist your child to develop:
